LLDIKTI V and APTISI Explore Collaboration with Universities in Thailand

The delegation of Private Universities (PTS) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) received a warm welcome from Mahidol University (MU), which is one of the largest and best universities in Thailand. The group of 12 DIY private universities, totaling 20 people, was received by the Deputy Chancellor for International Relations, Dr Nopraenue Sajjarax, at the MU main campus in Nakhon Pathon Bangkok, Thursday (19/10).

In his speech, Dr Nopraenue stated that MU has 300 study programs, and two-thirds of them are international programs. “Therefore, we are open to accepting students from Indonesia. Many Indonesian students have studied at this campus for a long time,” he said at the MU Central Campus in Salaya, Nakhon Pathom, Thailand.

Chair of APTISI V who is also Chancellor of the Indonesian Islamic University (UII) Prof. Fathul Wahid, M.Sc., Ph.D. stated that several universities in Indonesia have collaborated with MU for a long time, including UII. He hopes that in the future there will be more cooperation with MU.

Meanwhile, the Head of Region V Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI V) Prof. Aris Junaidi, Ph.D. stated that MU is the best campus, which is one of the Thai universities on the list that can receive scholarships from the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP). “This illustrates that Mahidol University has good quality,” said the Professor of Animal Husbandry from Gadjah Mada University (UGM).

After leaving Mahidol University, the group of PTS DIY leaders ended their visit to Kasem Bundit University. The group was welcomed by the Vice Chancellor for Administration Dr Suwat Suwandee and Dr Chaisak Chitcharoen who is the Director of Bachelor of Business Administration (International Program).

Widya Mataram University (UWM) Chancellor Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec. stated that visits like this are very good for increasing the international insight and experience of higher education leaders. “However, it will be even more useful after the visit to have an action agenda,” concluded Prof. Edy.

The PTS DIY delegation consisted of Widya Mataram University (UWM), Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD), Plantation Community Academy, Yogyakarta Maritime College (STIMARYO), YKPN College of Management Science (STIM), AMIKOM University, PGRI University, Gunung Kidul University ( UGK), Yogyakarta National Institute of Technology (ITNY), Guna Bangsa College of Health Sciences (STIKES), Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta (UAJY), and Aisyiyah University Yogyakarta (UNISA).
