The visit of Widya Mataram University (UWM) to Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) on Monday (27/11/2023) was received by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Rabu who is the Acting President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UniKL.
“We are happy to accept the collaboration plan between the two campuses under the government. UniKL plans to make the Independent Learning Campus (MBKM) a success in Indonesia and at the same time wants to learn how MBKM works,” said Assoc. Prof. Azman.
“Implementation of collaboration can be done through matching funds or joint conferences. UniKL already has 87 thousands alumni from fresh graduates. These students channel their aspirations through parliament,” he added.
UniKL has an arts festival program for students. “This is an opportunity for UWM as a culture-based campus to carry out intercultural communication between the two countries. Apart from that, UniKL as a Malaysian State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) campus, which is neither a state nor a private campus, has a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program,” said the CEO of UniKL.
UWM Chancellor Prof. Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid, M.Ec. In his speech, he said that it is a Private Higher Education Institution (PTS) that was initiated by the late Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX and Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono “UWM has a heritage advantage because it has the oldest building in Indonesia,” said the former Chair of the Association of Indonesian Private Universities (APTISI).
The UWM Chancellor was honored to be welcomed by the leadership and had the opportunity to see the UniKL rooftop directly. “It is hoped that in the future UWM UniKL can collaborate in journal writing, student and cultural exchanges. Future collaboration that can be carried out shortly is by utilizing technology to organize joint seminars,” said the former Chair of the Indonesian Chancellors Forum.
The UWM delegation consisted of the Chancellor and Deputy Chancellor (WR) I Dr. Jumadi, S.E., M.M., WR II Dyah Titin Laswati, S.T.P., M.P., and WR III Puuji Qomariyah, S.Sos., M.Si., and Dean of the Faculty of Economics (FE) Drs. Samsul Bakri, M.M., Dean of the Faculty of Law (FH) Dr. Kelik Endro Suryono, S.H., M.Hum., Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) Dr. As Martadani Noor, M.A., and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Prof. Dr. Ir. Ambar Rukmini, M.P.
The group was warmly welcomed by UniKL leaders and deans. Present at this meeting were Prof. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Naim Ahmad Yahaya who is the Dean of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies, Deputy President of Student Development & Campus Lifestyle Prof. Ts. Dr. Zalizah Awang Long, and Prof. Dr. Naziruddin Abdullah who is the Dean of Universiti Kuala Lumpur Business School.
Hopefully, this collaboration will bring progress to both institutions.
